Welcome to 2nd Alveston Scout Group

2nd Alveston Scout Group is located in Alveston, South Gloucestershire near to the market town of Thornbury. Alveston is home to around 3,000 residents.

Each section meets weekly providing a wide range of programmed activities. The meetings take place both inside and outdoors giving our young people a variety of life experiences. Events and camps are run throughout the year to consolidate skills developed during weekly meetings.

If you are thinking about Scouting and wondering if Scouts is right for you, take a look at the information on our Why Scouts page. More information is available in the relevant age-related sections.

We are always looking for volunteers to help with our section nights, events and committee. If you are wondering how you could help, check out our volunteer pages. Don’t worry, we will support you to develop skills and offer training along the way!

We are a very active group with camps and activities happening all the time. We aim to develop young people with #SkillsForLife, whilst having fun and making new friends. See what we have been up to on our social media pages. Decided Scouts is for you? Visit our joining page to sign up.

If you don’t find what you are looking for ask in our contact us area.

No residential activities.Maximum group size:Activities involving young people: no limit on group size but remain as only one section meeting independently of others. Indoor activities will be limited by the size of the location given social distancing remains.Adult activities (non-social) with no young people present: check local government guidanceNote: Where small sections may struggle to be viable to operate independently they may join with another section at this time.Note: The number of adults present should be limited to those who are required to be present to support the activity. It’s important to remember that we’re still in the middle of the pandemic and we all have the duty to make sure we’re following the letter and spirit of the guidance. Note: Activities (including those away from your usual meeting place) should be planned to minimise risk by limiting travel at all times. Check the guidance on planning activities in terrain zero. Trips should only take place where the outcomes can not be achieved locally and must be in a COVID safe manner. ... See MoreSee Less
